21 Days of Prayer and Fasting
At the beginning of a new year we want to make it a priority to seek God first in prayer. We do this collectively as a church in January through 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting from 5th to 26th January
What is fasting?
The goal of fasting is to draw nearer to God. Biblical fasting always has to do with eliminating distractions for a spiritual purpose; it hits the reset button of our soul and renews us from the inside out. It also enables us to celebrate the goodness and mercy of God and prepares our hearts for all the good things God desires to bring into our lives. Remember, your personal fast should present a level of challenge, but it is very important to know your body, your options, and, most importantly, to seek God in prayer and follow what the Holy Spirit leads you to do. There are various types of fasting that you can do, including full fasts, partial fasts and selective fasts, such as the Daniel Fast.
Prayer is simply communicating with our Creator. He is personal, cares for us, and wants to talk to us through prayer.
We pray because God asks us to pray. If we want to be obedient to Him then prayer needs to be part of our life. Prayer allows us to worship and praise God. It's where we can confess our sins, leading us into genuine repentance and ultimately God's forgiveness. Prayer gives us the opportunity to present our requests to God and express thanks for all He is doing in our lives.
When to pray
The Bible encourages us to pray 'on all occasions' (Eph 6:18), having a lifestyle of prayer. It's important through these 21 days that you commit to praying each day, as fasting without praying is simply a diet! As well as taking time to pray personally each day, Throughout the week we will be praying together as a church so whether you join us in person or online we would love for you to be a part of this powerful time of prayer.
What to pray about
We believe in the power of prayer. We believe prayer can impact every area of our lives and see God move in our church, our city and our nation. During our 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting we'll be focusing on specific prayer points each day available in our Prayer and Fasting guide.
Our Prayer For You
Our prayer for you over these next 21 days is that your passion for God, His Word and His presence will be awakened and that you will be encouraged and uplifted to pursue His purpose for your life in 2020.
